Lease to own a Porsche in New Jersey: what to know before you commit.
New Jersey is a four-season Porsche state. The Garden State Parkway that carries you to the Shore in July is salted by December, and Route 17 through Bergen County is stop-and-go most weekday mornings. Most people asking about a Porsche in North Jersey want one of three things.
The weekend 911
A rear-engine sports car for dry roads: Route 23 up toward High Point, the Palisades Interstate Parkway, the Delaware Water Gap. Drive it April to October, not through February.
The family Porsche
A Cayenne or Macan for Ridgewood, Montclair, Summit or Morristown: school drop-off, the Route 17 commute, ski trips up north. All-wheel drive as standard, room for the kids and the gear.
New Jersey to Florida
Clients who winter in South Florida can hand back the 911 in the fall and pick up a car from our Fort Lauderdale location. One concierge manages both.
Winter is the real question with a 911 here. Many performance Porsches ship on summer tires, which are not built for cold pavement or snow. Rather than buy a second set of wheels and heated storage, swap into an all-wheel-drive Cayenne or Macan for winter and return to the 911 in spring. Ask your concierge about winter tires if you'd rather keep one car all year.
Where you park matters too. In Hoboken, Jersey City and Fort Lee, a Porsche usually lives in a garage or building lot, and a Macan or Taycan is often easier to fit than a Cayenne. In the Bergen and Morris suburbs, a home garage suits any model.
For Manhattan commuters crossing the George Washington Bridge or the Lincoln Tunnel, the car mostly works evenings and weekends. A 3- or 6-month term shows whether a Porsche fits your week before you own one.
